Specialist contractors, engaged with care

We supply experienced contractors for programme, change, technology and commercial work. We engage each contractor through a route that reflects the status determination for the role, and we keep the process transparent for all parties.

01The challenge

What we typically find

Contractors bring specialist skills at speed, but engagement must follow the off-payroll working rules, often called IR35. Since April 2021, medium and large private sector clients, like public sector bodies, are responsible for determining a contractor’s status.

The end client must take reasonable care in that determination and issue a Status Determination Statement (SDS) with reasons. Many organisations are unsure how to assess roles consistently or handle disagreements from contractors.

Uncertainty can lead to blanket decisions that deter good contractors or create risk across the supply chain. Clients need a clear process, and contractors need to understand how and why they will be engaged.

02Our approach

How we work

  1. 01

    Discover

We take a detailed brief on the work, deliverables, duration and working arrangements. We confirm whether you are a small, medium or large client for off-payroll purposes.

  2. 02

    Define

We support you to gather the information needed for your status determination. The decision and SDS remain yours, and we recommend specialist advice where needed.

  3. 03

    Design

We agree the engagement route. Outside IR35 roles are typically engaged via the contractor’s limited company (PSC); inside IR35 roles via PAYE or a vetted umbrella company.

  4. 04

    Deliver

We source and present contractors with the SDS outcome shared upfront. We manage contracts, onboarding, timesheets and payments, with fee-payer deductions applied where the role is inside IR35.

  5. 05

    Improve

We review roles if working practices change, support your status disagreement process and keep engagement records up to date.
